Digital Showdown…
This evening on Twitter I became a fly on the wall during a real time debate between producer Dana Brunetti (@DanaBrunetti) and /Film’s editor Peter Scrietta that I had to share about the pro’s and con’s of releasing HOUSE OF CARDS as a whole series instead of on a episodic basis. HOUSE OF CARDS is the first exclusive Netfix series and was launched today (1st Feb) and sent Twitter buzzing.
I have a keen interest in new distribution methods having put my ‘money where my mouth is’ and releasing my second feature BEING SOLDÂ exclusively to digital platforms and became the first feature to be released solely on Distrify.
I, personally, love being able to “binge” on a good series never having the time (or flexibility… I’m a freelancer!) to tune into a show I like each week. I always wait for the box set. Now HOUSE OF CARDS has set a precedent, will there be more shows released in this way? What do you think?
